I had heaps of fun making these cards for Anna's great mixed media challenge.
Using my MISTI stamping tool I stamped the Unity girl (with sunglower attached) with Archival ink. I then reinked the stamp several more times so it was very black and bold.
I stamped the image onto Mask It by X-press it, then fussy cut and laid the mask over the stamped image. I have never used this stuff before - it is brilliant. I occassionally use the brush-on masking fluid, but it smell like a dead critter is under the desk.
I did the smack and squirt technique for the background (smack distress ink onto aluminium foil, squirt on a fair bit of water, using a foam blending tool, mop up the coloured water and gently swish over the cardstock).
I stamped on the garden and trees before removing the mask. I coloured the girl with distress inks - smack ink pad onto foil, squirt a tiny bit of water in one corner and use an aqua brush to colour.
When everything was finished and dry, I put it back into the MISTI and stamped on the Unity sentiment. I stamped it four times to make it nice and bold.
No copics or pencils!! Thank you for looking and have a great weekend ladies.

Wow again, Susie! Your background, phenomenal. There is a magical quality to those berry branches that you use so expertly in creating these scenes! The coloring of the girl is fantastic! What rich hues you achieved with distress inks! Awesome card!

Ms. Susie, this is delightful! Love your image and I see you're a huge promoter for MISTI. Earlier tonight, I finally caved and purchased one. Hope it's magical so my cards will look just like yours.

Oh, Susie, this is amazing! And you made two - woohoo for you! One of the reasons the MISTI is so fabulous!! I LOVE the background you've achieved - you really are at the Queen of Backgrounds!! And this gal is a beauty! I'm glad to hear about the brush-on masking fluid; I've been thinking about trying it but will probably just stick to the Eclipse or other masking papers! Thanks for always putting a smile on my face with your cards and reading your "journey" with them! Hugs, sis!

Wonderfully "adventurous" looking background with your "smack and squirt" technique, Susie!! Love how you use your stamps to create the 'landscape'! Hmm, masking fluid or Mask It??? Sounds like I have more shopping to do - well, that and of course the MISTI! You are such an enabler!!
