This is for MariLynn's fun mixed media challenge - Pop it Up.
This is one of the new Julie Nutting Prima "cling stamps"....it is a stamp, but it sure doesn't cling!! Thank goodness for my trusty Bostik glue stick and my MISTI stamping tool. I am starting to sound like an advertisment for MISTI, but it really is great - not just for repeated stamping, lining things up and so on, but it is terrifc for these extra large Prima stamps. You will never buy an acrylic block again!
The clothes for my lady are a combination of paper tole and 3D paper piecing - 6 x 6" paper pad, brand unknown. I coloured her skin, hair and shoes with Copics. The cream spotted paper looked too bright so I shut my eyes and gently wiped my walnut stain foam blending tool all over her. I did not put extra ink on the foam, just the remains that were on it. Trust me it helps not to look while you do this LOL.
The frock is too wide for a normal card so I sprayed some water on the right hand lower edges and rolled them very tightly around a toothpick then blasted a bit of heat on the curled paper - this stops them from ever moving.
The background is as mixed media as it gets!! This started out as a failed gelli plate background using pink and red ink. I then applied some gesso, then gelli plated it again with various coloured paints....it turned to mud, the good looking kind of mud , so I happily stencilled on an old clock pattern with some black paint and homemade modeling paste.
Stamped in the right hand corner (hard to see in photo but fine in real life) are the words " it's never too late to find out who you want to be". I thought this sentiment suited our old fashioned lady and grungy background with the timepieces.
Thanks so much for looking. Hope you are having a good weekend.

Susie, this is fantastic. I love the added dimension on her dress and your colors are so perfect and now I will be singing that song over and over as I lost loved Cher singing that song. Super duper job on this beauty.

Wow this turned out beautifully. Your background is wonderful and I love the sentiment that you've stamped on it. All the paper piecing is beautiful - I love the dimension you've given the dress with the folded over pleats.

Love her style (and yours), and I remember a waistline that looked like this - many, many years ago (she laughs). What a great idea to turn up the edges of her dress and reverse the pattern. And who doesn't love that hat?! I don't know about others, but I love this fashion era.
A wonderful card, AND a wonderful idea for this challenge! And no one I know uses adjectives like you do, Susie. The next time I use my heat gun I'll remember to "blast" some heat on whatever I'm doing *hahaha* You are a delight my friend, and I love ya!

Talk about an hour-glass figure! Somewhere I have a wide cinch-belt with a beautiful antique silver buckle and it's hard to imagine that it ever fit, LOL. I love her dress and the added dimension you gave to it, Susie.
