This card is for Julie's husband Dave. He is going through chemo and working 70 hpurs a week. We are sending him cards with birds to cheer him up. His favorite bird is the eagle, but I did not have any eagle stamps. Last summer I was in the local mountains and enjoyed watching the blue jays, so I chose this blue jay stamp. This is another unusual card for me... not a bright color in sight. Plus, I tried using watercolors, one medium that I never use. The only watercolors I have are an old plastic box with 10 round cakes of color that I bought for my sons when they were young. I am sure there are some secrets to watercoloring - sort of like the copic blender marker that is used for removing color rather than blending. I hope to take the on line watercolor class someday, buti thought I would experiment with the paints. It was much harder than I thought. TFL, Francie

I wouldn't have known you'd found the watercolours hard to use, Francie, I think this looks just beautiful. I really like your out-of-the-box technique for the jay's tail, it adds so much dimension. I like the maroon bling picking up on the berries on the branch.

You watercolored this? What a gorgeous job you did Francie, and what a perfect card for him! Love that image and layout. The added red enhances your beautiful image.

Please don't be so hard on yourself, Francie. This is beautifully done.....there are MANY styles of watercoloring from precise to the loosest possible. I have to agree watercolor is not as easy as it looks..."saving those whites" is a bear!! I had to laugh at your Gelli statement(I'm right there with you) : )
