This is for Ky's fun mixed media challenge - "Living on the Edge" and also for Jeanne's great Free for All challenge using kraft card.
The background was made by doing a glue resist onto kraft card, followed by the smack & squirt technique to add a garden scene. This background started out 4" x 8", I had two green distress inks at the bottom, followed by orange, yellow then a couple of blues. Using a baby wipe I removed the colour that was on the glue resist areas. I stamped some weirdo arty trees, coloured in some bits with Tria markers and a sharpie paint pen.
I die cut the Memory Box trees and the Celtic dream die (star gazing) by Lavinia Stamps. If you are familiar with this die, you can see I cut the circle and internal bracnches off. I placed the die-cuts on the card and it was all out of proportion so I cut the background in half, then turned it upside down - I used the top half here. To give the illusion that the little people were looking out at something I stamped a tree trunk in the right hand corner (stamped upside down).
To add a tiny bit of sparkle I put many little dots of silver stickles on, waited about 30 seconds, then wiped them with my finger.
This card will be hand delivered so it isn't an issue to extend the tree braches beyond the sides of the card. To avoid any damage, I make a very large envelope lined with a piece of card that is bigger than the trees.
Thank you for looking. I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Lordy, Susie, you have the most vivid imagination when it comes to switching things up to look like something else!!
Now THAT is what I call VISION!!!
Your card is a case of wonderment to me - love that you did the resist, added stickles, upside down tree branches and added all that wonderful color to the texture - AMAZING!

LOVE LOVE your colors to begin with, Susie. But the magical enchanted quality you evoke is something only you can do with a card. Exquisite in every aspect.

You literally create magic with your use of colors, images and techniques! What a gorgeous background and the stickles adds to this wonderful magical scene! The other most amazing part of your work is using the infamous "smack and squirt" but still controlling what colors go where! You really are an amazing and talented artist!

You are so unbelievably creative! This is amazing with the background you created and those wonderful branches. The stargazers remind me of an antique book I have - it's a children's book of poetry all about fairies.

Magical Susie! I'm beginning to think that you are actually a little fairy or elf (like the ones in Lord of the Rings) not Santa elves. Maybe part fairy? You always have the best, most magical scenes and that die cut is so super cute, you know how much I love fairies! This card is just so beautiful my dear sweet friend!

I do believe you have magic in those fingers of yours......this is fantastic. It's a card where you can keep looking at, and find another outstanding detail. Love the bg colors you created with the craft. They are so rich looking. Actually I've been looking for a picture that has these colors for my bedroom. Tfs
Thanks, Susie, for the instructions on doing the glue resist technique. I couldn't figure out how to thank you as I couldn't respond to the email. Maybe you will see this and know that I appreciate it.
