This is for Ann's "Welcoming Door" VSN challenge ~ you can find the challenge HERE.
I see this as a New Home card. I'd have liked to make a hinged door that opened, but since I'd already wasted about ten minutes trying to get an embossed effect, I knew I didn't have the time to mess around with hinges too.
Since the embossed/debossed thing didn't work (I'd stuck rectangles onto a piece of card), I just gave the whole thing two coats with an acrylic gloss paint. The doorknob is a spare button from a sweater I knit a few years ago. I couldn't find a single suitable button in my craft button box, and had to take a trip downstairs to my sewing/knitting supply.
For the wreath, I cut a circle base from brown card, and then just added leaves and flowers, with Liquid Pearls for the flower centres. I found a little fabric butterfly that picked up on the colour of the doorknob.
I added a Congratulations sentiment, but in fact thanks to the very shiny gloss finish, I can easily peel it off and replace it with something else if required.
Join in the VSN fun! There are some great challenges to help you add cards to your stash; you have till 10 pm Eastern on Saturday 14th March to upload.
