Yesterday Sabrina asked us to cook up something in our kitchen for the ways to use it challenge. I had a lot of fun coffee staining some tags and papers (blog post with photos and tutorial link) I grabbed some neutral papers, the tags and my art journal before heading to my DD's swim meet last night. While I was waiting for the action to begin, I put together this page. (How do you answer the question, "what are you making that for?") I used the direct to paper technique on the edges of the tag and also on the woodgrain strip after distressing lightly. I added a darker twine and layered a corrugated strip with an orangey strip and today used some pencils to write "coffee" words on this. I stamped my words and also did some journaling at the bottom of my book page. FUN!

The "coffee rings" on the page made me laugh - we have friends who had a running joke that they would only lend each other books on condition that they came back with no dog-ears and no coffee stains. And your tag is just fantastic.
We do have a gallery for Art Journal pages (Anything But A Card >>Books, Handmade Albums etc >> Art Journal Pages), so if that's an ongoing project feel free to upload your pages there! While it's not a concept that I can get my head around for me, I just love seeing what other people do.

Thanks Sabrina-I couldn't figure it out so I gave up! This is one of my first tries at art journaling....I like the concept of making something just because and more personal to my own interests.

Another totally fun creation with coffee. Great images, techniques, and design. I can see your dilemma - it isn't easy to explain to people that art is simply about creating even if it isn't a painting or card. Love it! Hugz

Gail, this is fantastic! Art journals fascinate me and yours is off to a fabulous start! I love this page along with the coffee stained papers! Coffee and tea do make wonderful stains and I've used it for dyeing fabrics too!
