Hi all,
Well this went a different direction after I got going...it had a mind of it's own. I cut the Birch/Aspen trees out of a real piece of birch (paper thin) Because it is real wood, it does not take to dies (it breaks apart). So before I cut it I attached wide "score tape" to the back to help keep it together (I know from previous attempts, that it will fall apart if not backed by something).
If you could see it IRL, you would actually be able to see the real wood grain. I then cut some pines and the deer couple. I tore some snowy ground and put it all together, popping some pieces out. I then pierced my bg and used floss to sew the stitches and floss to tie around the bottom. My inspiration for this card was the birch covered candle here: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/387591111656401673/
Don't ask how I got so far off...I don't know!
I forgot to say that I bought the real wood "paper" several years ago, not sure if it is still available anywhere? Sorry!
Thanks for looking!

You captured the true spirit of the candle (your card would be perfect to include with the candle if given as a gift!). Love how you let your creativity go where it wanted....and wow it went to just the right place!

This is just lovely! I can't believe that you used real birch bark - that's so cool. I love the shading on your deer and the 3D look of the card - a real beauty!

Love the use of real wood paper, Robin! It's so hard to find though. What a gorgeous creation and love, love, love the colors on this! The use of the floss is embellishes it beautifully! Gorgeous card!
