These are the most beautiful Cockatoos. They are called Gang Gangs. I often see them in Winter when they come down from the ranges to spend the colder weather here - there are lots of seeds and nuts on the trees for them. The male is the red headed one - and it is a very bright red - the poor little female isn't so brightly attired. You can also hear them when they are flying overhead because their call sounds like a very rusty door hinge - creaky and needing oil. I made the background using a gelli plate - and don't ask me how I did it - I can't replicate it!!! This is very annoying - it was the first print from my new larger gelli print plate - so I think it must have some sort of oil or something on the plate which produced the lovely background. If I knew what did it I would bottle it and sell it. he he. The image is coloured with Derwent water colour pencils. I have had this lovely stamp for years and years and never used so I am very happy with the result. Hope you enjoy my little Birdy Friends.

Wow, this is a beautiful card with beautiful Gang Gangs. You have colored it beautifully. How wonderful to have these come down from the range and share their beauty.

Love seeing your cards with Australian wildlife...especially the birds. This is such a distinctive looking card with the Gang Gangs in the oval frame and the perfect DP that you used. Appreciate your realistic coloring of the birds too.
