This is for two challenges, as well as my January quota for the SCS Christmas Card Challenge. I used a French sentiment for Ways to Use It "Speaking Foreign". And Free for All "Baby, It's Cold Outside" is to use the wrinkle free distress technique and then alter it with the addition of salt, and keep the theme of "it's cold outside".
I used a green and two blues for the wrinkle free distress and added coarse sea salt while it was still wet. I stamped the image and sentiment in dark green and heat embossed in clear ep. And then sprinkled two kinds of Frantage on it and heated from underneath to create snow and some extra texture.
I didn't have any dark green cs to border it with so rubbed my dark green ink on the edges of a rectangle of white cs and added embossing powder - that way my border perfectly matches. It's then popped up on a white cardbase.

Beautiful, wonderful and whatever other adjectives you want to add. Your background turned out beautifully and I love the way you used two colours of the Frantage. Hmm, maybe I need to expand my collection. And the simple silhouetted trees make a statement and still let the background shine through. I'm a big fan of sponging mat layers to match when I don't have the right card ;-).

LOVE your beautiful card, Susan, for both these challenges. I have to try this technique, using the salt as it looks amazing and I particularly love your colours, they are my favourite colours!!! Lovely card!!!

GORGEOUS, Susan. Your blue-green bg is stunning and the salt added another dimension as did the coarse EP. The simple pine silhouettes lets your bg shine.

LOVE this Susan. The colours of the background are so pretty ... and so YOU! Great addition with the Frantage. And great way to border your pieces with the matching colour ... who needs coloured card stock??
