Another card for my January CCC commitment. I made three very similar cards; it was easy to duplicate the layout using the MISTI tool.
The image and sentiment were stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed using gold detail. I'm not sure what my problem with embossing was yesterday, but it looked bad so I re-stamped the image and re-embossed.
I sponged behind the scene with Distress inks, going outside the image to frame it somewhat. I was going to leave it, but decided to sponge the entire layer with chipped sapphire, leaving a lighter area around the image.. It took a lot of ink and sponging to change that paper from white to navy! I sprinkled some ep over the layer, brushing off any that went into the background of the actual image, and heated it from the back. I created a matching mat by coating the edges of the mat with VersaMark and using the gold ep to heat emboss. I have seen this done but hadn't tried it before. I was really pleased with how it turned out. The layers were adherd together and attached to the base with Sookwang tape.
As always, thanks for looking!

Love the way there is a 'back-lit' brilliance emanating around the Nativity scene, and the GOLD is everywhere - looks amazing!!

That was white paper? Wow, that was a lot of work and so worth it! Love the gold EP since it appears to be a brilliant gold! How on earth do you manage to stamp over the image so perfectly! Love the glow around the manger too! Glad to see you doing CCC too!

Oh, I thought you heat embossed on navy paper - I read your description and realized you sponged it! What beautiful sponging, especially with the lighter bit behind the manger. And I love the sprinkled gold ep!

Wow, Jody! All three of your nativity cards are beautiful, but I especially love this one! The blue is so deep and rich. I can't believe you started out with white CS for this. I love the flecks of gold embossing in the background and the gold-edged mat you made. The blue and gold together are perfect for a Royal Christmas card!
