In our Stamp to Spend forum we have been discussing how we keep track of our spending and creative efforts. Some use digital spreadsheets, some still use paper. I have been using a simple bookkeeping ledger, as has Kelly, but she showed us a photo of how she decorated hers. Well, I have never decorated mine, so this was my project this weekend. It's a mixed media effort, using my favourite colours. I started out with taping up the frayed binding and added some drywall mesh across the tape and bits and pieces elsewhere on the cover also. Then applied gesso over all of it, leaving little bits of the mesh without gesso. Then stamped the diamond bg randomly, a little bit of crackle bg, the pressed flower stamp randomly. I then spread some distress paints on my crafts sheet and spritzed with water, dipping the book cover into it several times. When not enough paint was distributed, I took a paint brush and added the colours that way. I found a sailboat trial piece in my bits and pieces box and added it to the bottom with modpodge, then stamped the scripture verse on copy paper and ink distressed the edges and adhered it to the cover with mod podge, then covered everything with mod podge. I added and outline die cut flower and outlined it with Ranger Liquid pearls in Lavender Lace. Lastly, I added the die cut numbers for 2015. During the year, I just may add a thing or two, but for now it is finished.

Way to put the "fun" in FUNctional! Impressive list of steps involved to create this, too. I'm thinking maybe I should give "mixed media" a try this year...
