Happy New Year, everybody!!
Vicky is our January hostess over at CCEE Stampers, and she's starting us off with a challenge which is right up my tree - or in this case, down on the ground; to use a bird on our card.
I've combined it with Cathy's WTUI challenge ~WT512 Something New.
I wanted to use this bird, so I decided to go with a mixed media approach. First off I stamped the IO Music cover-a-card stamp in Smokey Grey, stamped off once. Then I stamped the bird and masked it. Then I used a homemade mister to spray over the the top part of the card with the Circle Explosion stencil. For the grass, I used a mix of Gelatos, gesso and pencils. I coloured in between the stencilled circles with blue and yellow pencils. The bird is coloured with Inktense pencils. I added a sentiment, and some music notes. The edges are sponged with chipped sapphire and dusty concord, and finished with some silver Stickles.
I stamped the base with Small Quatrefoil and popped my image panel up on foam dots.

This card is one of the cutest bird cards evah! I love that bird...it looks handdrawn (I know it isn't) and that just adds to the charm of your card. Just adorable! Happy New Year!

WONDERFUL card, Sabrina! LOVE the mixed media look. Like how you used multiple layers of mediums and stamping. Like how you colored the bird, too. Is the bird CCEE a brand new one? I don't remember getting it.

What a wonderful way to begin 2015! Like Susan said, this makes me happy - so warm and cheering on this dreadfully cold and dreary day. I love the mixed media background you created, and the way you colored the sweet robin! Hope you're feeling better!

Ah Sabrina, I love that bird stamp! It's such a cool look for the mixed media creations.........looks hand drawn. I love how you coloured it too, with the inktense pencils. I've been reading about them a lot lately. It seems there are always new tools, that I want to investigate. Love the music score bg and the notes coming out of the bird's beak. A wonderful creation!
