This is for Janelle's MIX9 challenge ~ Holiday Selfie challenge, and it's also for Cathy's WT challenge from yesterday.
Cooking away, that's me ;-). I nearly put a recipe in the back of this, but thought it would look a bit odd hanging on a tree, so the back is just DP.
We use Petri dishes in work, and every day they just get thrown out. One day last week I put a couple into my bag thinking that surely I could use them for something, and - hoorah for a day off - today I had time.
I lined the back with DP, and cut a thin strip to line the rim of the Petri dish base. For my main image, I gessoed some book paper, and when it was dry, stamped the owl on it. I had a mask, so I masked him and sprayed the background with a couple of misters. Then I used Gelatos to stencil in some stars and a mesh foreground. I coloured my owl with watercolours, added red Stickles round the edge of the paper circle, and then added some Polar White flowersoft before sticking the top of the Petri dish on.
... Before that I made a little hole in the rim of the lid of the Petri dish and threaded my loop of hemp through it.
I think I'd better snag some more dishes some time!!

Sabrina, what a cute little owl ornament. Love the book page behind him. I think a recipe would have looked cute too. Great upcycled project. I see more petri dish projects in the future.

Sabrina, that is an adorable ornament! That owl cook is super! So creative to use a petrie dish (I haven't used one since highschool) I love the little strip of striped paper along the side. It gives a cool dimension.

Sabrina, this is just over the top incredibly creative. You could sell this...everyone would want to buy one with their own hobby in it. I sure would love to see your tree. What an amazing mind you have to recycle the petrie dish into such a fantastic ornament. I just have to add my fav quote..."the only reason I have a kitchen is because it came with the house".

I love your personalized ornament Sabrina! That is such a cute image beautifully supported by the background stars and text. Love the stickles too. The petri dish is a perfect frame for your little cook!

So cute! I love the way you made it enclosed so you could shake the 'glitter' around.
