The Cat's Pajamas Winter Blog Hop
Clean and Simple Challenge 301 - Lovely as a Tree
I started out planning a card for TCP's Winter Blog Hop which required using at least one TCP element. My choice was to use the Triple Side Step Cutable. I didn't know beyond that point what I was going to do! Not having an electronic cutter, I struggled with the pdf (me and numbers and measuring do not go together, and I had to cut it out *twice*). I thought adding some trees might be nice on the 'side steps', when I saw that the CAS301 challenge was trees - how fortuitous! That sealed the deal.
So I had a card base, and trees. Each element just came together one at a time over the course of about three days. Much like when I write a college course paper and I have difficulties starting out by writing an outline, I have a hard time visualizing my cards and they often just come together one piece at a time. I did a little bit at a time, left it alone, and went back to it the next day. Less stress that way! ;)
I knew I wanted to to use my new embossing folder, and that was going to be the left side panel. My new TCP All is Calm stamp set arrived in the mail yesterday so it became my sentiment. I love holly leaves and had these little Recollections embellishments, but it made the card feel unbalanced to me with glittery holly leaves on the left hand side and plain jane trees on the other. I remembered I had a big old tub of Creatology glitter, and since I was lacking inspiration for the *snow* that suddenly seemed like a good idea.
I hope you like my 'piecemeal' card, I think it came together well in the end, and I'm actually rather pleased with it. This is card #7 for those who are following my newbie cardmaking journey.

I think your card came together delightfully! Your card making process is very much like my own most of the time. Walk away, add something, walk away, ...and repeat! :-) I love your white base as a foil for your Christmassy elements. Your sentiment look great on plaid and the glittery snow and holly add a festive touch!
