This is for Anna's fun mixed media challenge - Snowy Scenes.
It is easy to see here that I have not cleaned my desk since Monday. The little house is an extra diecut for the TLC challenge, the trees were leftovers from the CAS challenge and the background was a left over from the WT challenge!!
The background is an off cut stored in my mixed media stash. In pencil on the back I write what mediums I used. From what I had written this was a gelli plate print using distress inks, then slurped through a puddle of left over dylusions ink sprays.
I took the photo within 10 seconds of finishing it and didn't give it another thought until it was time to sit down and do this writeup. OMGoodness call the snow police....all the snow is now pink with a faint opaque white coating.
The colour I used was called "snowflake"....one would think that would be perfect for this snowy scene challenge. I didn't read the bottle properly, it is an opaque chalk acrylic. The fine print says to dilute with water for a wash or glaze transparency. Oh well, you live and learn, at least I now know I don't need to buy a colour wash or transparent glaze.
I applied the snow dots by removing the lid of the paint and dipping the pointy end of a paint brush into the lid, then randomly dotting the card. I could do this again with normal acrylic paint, but the pink snow is growing on me.
Thank you for looking ladies.
EDIT: More than 1 hour has passed since posting this, the spots are completely dry now and VERY pink. My gorgeous 96 year old neighbour just popped in and I showed her the 'pink' snow. I roared laughing when this sweet demure old lady said, "Give it Ruth next door, she is as blind as a bat".

This is great...pink snow....I think that just makes it more festive and I'm sure Ruth would love it. I think it's really adorable. And just for the record...I've also sent some older relatives a card that I thought wasn't quite perfect but for not so perfect eyes it was quite lovely ;)

I didn't give the snow a second thought until I read your details! So evidently the "pinkness" of the snow isn't something you focus on...but the wonderful house and fence and birch tree with birds IS! LOVE this...

I have to agree with Peggy, I didn't notice the pink snow either. Love the white and red with a hint of distressing on the house! Your textured frame is beautiful!

Pink snow is OK by me. I was too busy looking at all the lovely die cuts - trees, birds and house to focus on the snow anyway - it is probably a reflection from the setting sun in the late afternoon. These 90+ year olds sure still have their sense of humour. That made me laugh.

LOve the red background, and I didn't see the pink snowflakes until your description, so don't sweat it... I think this is a great card.... TFS

Susie, pink snow (got to be better than yellow,) or not. I love the drama of the red background and white silhouettes.
I've had that same issue, also when I use Liquid Pearls on coloured backgrounds sometimes. Red is a particularly bad culprit for leaching where you don't expect it, but I've also had problems with green.
