This is a late tag for Karen's CC503. I love red, gold and green, and had to get one more card in before the new colors are announced. Ky gave us a link to a terrific mixed media artist for our inspiration for the MIX93. Every so often I get a little package in the mail from my sister. She cooks but does not do crafts. I make cards, but am still trying to convince my family that cold cereal makes a great dinner...a different flavor every night. If I tried to buy her something from a cooking store, I would choose something based on artfully designed packaging. So, that said, I never know what to expect. I have had a beautiful package of patterned tissue paper from her and haven't known what to do with it. Then I saw France Papillon cover a tag with gesso and cover it with a thin layer from a napkin, so I used a piece of red print tissue paper. France added more gesso and put on some book page torn paper...I used piano music (I still have books of sheet music from when I was 10). This next part was me using a new "paper" and realizing that it doesn't do what I thought...note to self-watch a tutorial with all new products. A patient -I am a dental hygienist- told me about this paper/fabric called lutradur that she uses for textile art. I stamped a colored pattern on it and wanted to be sure it was dry, so I used my heat gun. Boy does that stuff shrink and melt. Tossed that piece out, but melted some plain white pieces and glued them down. They looked a little like snow. Colored the snowman with copics added gold pen for the buttons and buckles on the shoes, and fussy cut. Distressed the edges and added gold glitter glue. Also added white gel pen dots to the snowman's sweater and scribbled a little silver perfect pearls. Fun card to make. TFL, Francie
I am trying to add this to Loll's 12 tags of Christmas at this link http://www.stampingwithloll.com/

I always love snowmen with legs! So counter-intuitive and therefore a wonderful flight of fancy! I could not believe all the work you went to to create this fantastic tag, but every step shows and adds to the overall effect. It's wonderful!

Wonderful mixed media! Thanks for explaining how you did it - I must try the gesso and paper napkin or tissue paper background. Love all the layering and textures!

Ooooooh ahhhhhhhh Francie!!!! This is a fantastic, wonderful, amazing weirdo arty tag. Oh I love it. I have never seen a snowman look so happy, your fussy cutting is supurb. I keep having to scroll back to see what I missed. This is not only going into My Favs week, but I am going to create a Favs Vault so i don't loose it. Can you tell how much I love it Francie.
