This my card for the HYCCT1429 challenge "I've Got Your Back" - to create cards making our own background...without using designer paper on the background. Go crazy with ink, paint, stamps, cork, fabric, corrugated cardboard...anything you like except dp.
To create the background, I first crumpled watercolor paper and then smoothed it back out. I lightly sponged the top of the wrinkles with Frayed Burlap and crumpled it again. This time after smoothing I brushed across it with a Colorbox Archival Gold ink pad and sponged on Victorian Velvet when the gold ink dried. I stamped the background and let it dry. It was pretty, but a little harsh, so I painted over it with watered down gesso, which was sanded back when the paper dried.
I cut the frame and adhered it with foam tape. The peony was embossed and die cut and is layered on gold; there is the tiniest edge peeking out on the right side. I touched the dots in the center with a glue pen and dusted with microfine gold glitter. It's attached with foam tape.
As always, thanks for looking!
