My good friend, Loll Thompson, is having a Christmas tag event on her blog (http://www.stampingwithloll.com/2014...s-day-one.html) and has invited 12 stampers (most of whom are SCS members) to be guest designers - one each day for the 12 days of the event. She invited me to be guest designer for the first day - I'm honoured.
Since I'm inexperienced with making tags, I decided to choose things I love - stars and the colour blue. Here's how I did it:
I stamped the "joy" and "noel" in gold and heat embossed in gold. Then I sponged with three Distress inks over the whole card, then flicked some water droplets on it. When dry, I took my Memory Box Stardust stencil and sponged over it with Golden Glitz ink. I stamped the "star light, star bright" sentiment with dark blue ink on gold shimmer cs and heat embossed with clear ep. I cut it out with a star die and popped it up with dimensionals. A simple bit of gold ribbon finished it off.
Loll is inviting other stampers to add mixed media Christmas tags to her blog each day starting tomorrow (Nov 3) and running for 12 days so do join in the fun if you like making tags, or, like me, are new to making tags!

LOVE this tag Susan. So YOU with the blue background and stars. The droplets of water add lots of visual texture and love the gold embossed stars and dots throughout. The blue embossed sentiment fits perfectly on your beautiful star die-cut. Thanks so much for joining me as a guest designer for my tag event, mf!! xx

Susan, your tag is beautiful and would be a wonderful addition to any package or gift bag....and hopefully, kept after the other wrappings are long gone. It could even be used to make a Christmas card. How lovely to be invited to be Guest Designer #1.

This is gorgeous, Susan and so you! Love the background and the rich blue and that's one of my favorite Susan sentiments! So glad you inspired Loll to do this!

Susan, I LOVE that background! The stars and water marks look fantastic on this! The gold embossing is so perfect for this as well as the wonderful verse on your larger star!
