I wish I could tell you how this all started, but all I know is that I took Impression Obsessions pumpkin pair stamp, a mask and the rest just happened.
Since our teapotter theme is 'pumpkins' and Impression Obsessions challenge is 'Shades of Fall', I decided to combine both and make a fun little diorama. Even thought I had to fight the urge to grab the shotgun as soon as I stuck those little rascals in the truck.
I don't care much for squirrels. They're rats, people. RATS. Seriously. I HATED when my grandpa shot squirrels...whether it was squirrel and dumplins, fried squirrel with gravy, or whatever....I despised the taste and no matter how clean a shot it was, I always ended up with pieces of shot in mine.
NOTE: Don't think I haven't wondered about the lead I ingested from the sqrirrels and rabbits I ate growing up. It would explain a lot. A LOT.
But I have to admit that the paper ones are cute and I can live with them driving a truck through the pumpkin field. I've got some great stories on the way....from my one night stand with resin, to my speech I've been rehearsing for Judgement Day...stay tuned! You NEVER know when I'll throw off the sloth and put a little effort into something more than my incessant whining. HAH!

LOVE reading your descriptions ... you are a total HOOT! This card is so blasted cute and I love the scene and coloring. Whodathunk? Squirrels cruising. Hee! Yah, if you have squirrels in your attic who have eaten their way through your siding, or encounter one who is seriously determined to get through your window screen into your house ... they're not so cute! Never thought about that lead thing. Hmmm. My late-husband grew up on a farm ... heeheehee.
Love hearing all your stories. You crack me up! I ate a lot of squirrel too. The trick is you chew tenderly and spit the shot out-- tee hee! Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't! Love your card too. It is really cute with those ornery squirrels making off with the truck!

How cute is this and yes, I ate squirrel twice and loved it! Unfortunately it takes about 500 squirrels to make dinner! They are also a nuisance when trying to make walnut ink.
I give you so much credit for doing a diorama! Love the pumpkins in the foreground too!

OMG Carmen, this is a hoot. love the scene and those amazing colors.
it is also nice to find someone else who doesn't think they are cute and cuddly. I've never had to eat them, thank goodness, but I have a running battle with the pesky things that climb up on my deck and steal all the bird food. Like you said, squirrels are rats with a good PR agent.

;-), I've edited your keyword so this shows up with all the other pumpkins. Maybe it was past pumpkin time when you uploaded it, LOL. I just LOVE your ears of corn, and while DH would agree with you on the squirrels = rats, those ones are pretty cute looking. Of course, we didn't used to have grey squirrels here at all till someone was given a gift of four of them from America as a wedding present and they escaped - and have now almost overrun our native reds. I might have the four wrong - maybe it was 8, but the rest is true. And the red ones are so much more endearing looking with their little ear tufts. OK in squirrels, not in men.

Oh Carmen, your diorama is just toooooo wonderful. Love the squirrels driving the truck through the pumpkin patch. Your water coloring is just perfect and I so agree, they are rats with bushy tails. Not at all fun to have around. And I'm glad I was never given the chance to eat one. Love your narrative. I'm closing my eyes and willing this diorama to come to Arizona. LOL.

Oh, Carmen! You totally make me laugh!!! Really, girl, I hear you about squirrels! LOL! My husband used to feed some of them dry-roasted peanuts and see them sit on the fence - ah, so cute! UNTIL one day! We had a beautiful, tall sunflower growing almost as tall as I am. We were sitting at the breakfast table and commenting at how beautiful it was and how tall, and then we looked away and then back. GONE! Totally GONE! My mouth dropped, and I cried, "where is it????" Do you know that a squirrel dove for it and "chomped" that flower off the stalk!!?? I was in horror! Since then, I don't think any of them are cute!! LOL! And, truly, they are so dumb running in the middle of the road!! This is a true story!
Anyway, back to the "real world," my fun friend! LOL! I LOVE this diorama! Totally love the vibrant colors and the depth you've achieved in it. It almost looks like a theater! Perhaps they are driving away from our house after chomping my sunflower?!?! Carmen, you are way fun, and I also LOVE your work! Totally a great piece here that was oh so worth your efforts! Hugs, sweet and fun friend!

Carmen, I just can't stop smiling at this. I have had squirrel that my grandpa shot and if I remember I though it tasted like chicken!! Didn't they tell us that about everything 'meaty'? We have a squirrel who frequents our bird feeders - we've named him spotty and when visiting my DGD at Kent State, I see a lot of black squirrels running around! Oh, about your card......
How cute!! This looks like a lot of work. There isn't one thing about this that isn't cute!! I'd love it to find it's way to OH-IO!
