This is my card for the HYCCT1415 challenge "Soft and Cozy" - to use something that is soft and cozy like fabric, felt, ect. OR use and image that evokes the feeling of softness or coziness.
When I 'slip into something more comfortable', it's usually an old t-shirt that's been washed about a 100 times. So when I found this (clean) t-shirt paint rag while rummaging through fabric scraps, I thought it was perfect for a background. To me it looks like a watercolored rose.
I cut a piece of heavy card stock to size and covered it with a wide strip Sookwang tape. I removed the liner paper and place it sticky side down on the fabric, burnishing it heavily with my bone folder. I trimmed the fabric about a half inch larger all around and pulled the edges to the back, gluing them down and then covering the edges with painters tape. I covered the front with microfine glitter and rubbed in into and through the fabric, then tapped it off and removed the excess glitter with a soft brush. It looks really pretty and subtly sparkly IRL, of course it doesn't show in the picture!
I cut the word "love" twice from glitter paper and layered them for dimension. I adhered a large piece of the glitter paper to another piece of white cs so it would be sturdy enough for the frame. The frame and word were glued to the t-shirt layer using Ranger matte multi medium and placed under some heavy weight to dry. The entire piece was attached to the card base with clear foam tape.
As always, thanks for looking!
