This is for the sketch challenge and Bridget's HYCCT challenge. It's dedicated to my Mom, who was my hero in so many ways. She suffered with what they finally decided was PSP, an aggressive form of palsy and spent the last 3 years of her life in a wheelchair. She loved to read and that got her through for sometime, but she finally couldn't even do that. Her favorite color was turquoise and she loved turquoise jewelry. I'm blessed to have some of her favorite pieces, which I treasure. She had a bird clock, that gave different bird sounds each hour and she always had birds on their Christmas tree. She always had a sweet smile on her face, though she suffered so. I stamped the wreath twice, without re-inking, added the diecut bird and sentiment, then popped the piece up with foam tape over the accent strip..

Sue, the love for your Mum comes through beautifully in this holiday creation - the soft turquoise and the delicate wreath with the pretty bird combine to portray sweetness and a light, airy beauty! Thanks for sharing a little glimpse through your lovely tribute of the person your Mum was, xx

Thanks for the insight into your mother, your hero. I think the colors and images reflect your love for her, and so nicely done. TFS!

Sue, your mother sounds like she was a wonderful person with varied interest. How lovely that you have some of her beautiful jewelry to wear...and keep her close to your heart in not only a spiritual way, but with treasured mementos.

When I first saw this I thought it was breath-taking. Now that I read about your inspiration I love it even more. It's so perfect to honor your sweet Mom. I am just going to keep a box of tissues near my desk to get through this Hero gallery! I love the colors and the way you embossed the silvery wreath. And a side note, I'm so glad you have that beautiful jewelry and hope you wear it all the time to keep your mom close. Hugs.
