My mother's birthday is tomorrow, but she won't be back until the 16th. This is just one of the several gifts I have planned. Months ago, she told me about seeing something in a magazine where they'd taken wine corks and beads and made napkin rings. She asked if I could make something like that, and I told her 'absolutely not'.
I wasn't trying to be mean, it's just that I DON'T bead and even the good Lord knows I don't NEED ANY MORE HOBBIES AT THE MOMENT. All this jive started off as "I want to make some cards to have on hand for when I need them". Thousands of dollars later, along with the conquering of the downstairs study to hold what I USED to keep in a 12x12 scrapbook box, here I am.
Do you really think that BEADING is REALLY something I need to get involved with?
Sigh.
That being said, it's my mother and it's her 70th birthday. But don't make the mistake of thinking her a kindly, mature woman. She can guilt trip a corpse back to life. And while I adore her, I'm secretly afraid of her. So, if it's napkin rings she wants, it's napkin rings that she'll get.
Lots more gifts and, of course, HYCCT challenges I've got to catch up on! I'm so excited it's here!
