Primarily for this week's MMTPT321 Reading is Fun challenge for Greg. But since I'm late in getting to it, due to a bereavement in my husband's family, I've also been able to incorporate today's Au Naturale and signs of Fall F4A and MIX challenges.
For my mixed media, I included adding some stamped leaves with Versamark and chalk in the foreground of the owl panel, stamped my sentiment on an old scrap of embossing resist, and added a Fantasy Film leaf left from one of my Dirty Dozen cards this month.
Signs of fall - the leaves, cones and wool.
Au Natural - the wool and wood veneer.
Stamped the owl, coloured him with distress inks and pencil for the foreground. Masked him and used several inks direct to paper to create a woodsy background, over which I stamped some leaves in green.
Stamped the books on some BG paper and cut the aperture, also cutting a frame from the same Bazzill as the base. The sentiment is stamped on an old scrap of emboss resist. Because the IO backgrounders make a square, I often end up with useful scraps when I make an A2 card . I wrapped it round with some wool and stuck it to the card. The little wooden cones were sponged with ink while still in the die.

I love this! That leaf is gorgeous. I need to go find the card you did it on so maybe I can figure out how you did it and do a little casing you. That owl is colored so well and the sentiment is perfect.

Love this "book worm" owl very comfortably sitting and enjoying his book, up among those beautiful leaves! How clever to save all those lovely scraps to use for your sentiment strips, wrapped with some wool to give us a little more of your card to savor!! You have a plethora of wonderful ideas and inspirations!!!
