Today's Technique Challenge is based on Lydia's tutorial found HERE. And I admit, I've been wanting to try it. I love the way the flower looks after Lydia was finished and the hard part was NOT recreating the exact same thing she did, lol. So I purposely hunted for different images...maybe a bit ambitious to use so many leaves, though. It took me quite a while to "etch" them all. Then I wanted to color them...but I didn't want to cover up all those etched lines so I masked them, placed a piece of drywall mesh on top and sponged in some bg color.
After adding the greeting, I also added a frame by using a ruler & a black pen & a hint of border color with a water brush & the rusty hinge distress ink and some stickles on the oak leaf/acorn for the "sparkle" part of challenge.
Thanks so much for looking! Closeups are on my blog: The Write Stuff

I know what you mean about not wanting to cover up your pretty leaves (by coloring them) and all that hard effort put forth, Julie! You did such an exceptional job with the masking, the leaves look like they're floating! Beautiful autumn shades behind them~

Oh Julie - I bet that took you AGES! I love it when a challenge gives me the push to try something out that's been on my list. And TBH, these days life is so busy that sometimes the only way I'm ever going to hit some of the tutorials from the Inkling is sneaking them into the TLC, LOL. I'm glad that this was one you, too, wanted to try - and you obviously had great fun with it. I just love the contrast of the black and white leaves against the autumnal grid. And I love the sparkly acorn .
