Bridget has asked us to make a card inspired by someone who is a hero to us....someone who shows strength to persevere and endure. I just had to make a card honoring my mom who has been an inspiration to me my whole life as an excellent, godly wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, etc. She has handled her cancer journey with grace and endurance even though the cancer continues to seemingly win battles along the way.
My mom loves poppies so I went with my poppy die cut adding some layering with a few individually cut petals for added depth. I was making this one as a sample card for HYCCT so I was clearing my desk to make way for the upcoming craziness of card-making and this is a result of elements already in place on my desk.....I put the green poppies on the bottom over a blank part of a dictionary page with another strip of torn dictionary page and a strip of dp. I crumpled and distressed this a bit and added some sponging. I also tied a tiny bow with burlap string. My sentiment was stamped on a strip then distressed and sponged. I stamped spatter around the base and the poppy piece. My second sentiment was carefully stamped with the longer sentiment divided into two to fit in my space. On the inside I added a vanilla piece with another dictionary strip at the bottom. Close up photos on my blog.
I hope that one of the patients at MD Anderson will be able to honor her mom with this card or maybe a family member will give this to a mom in treatment. Hope you'll join us and enjoy the challenges while making a difference as we send our cards forward!
Are you playing along with us? If not, you're missing out on the chance to lift the spirits of women battling breast cancer at MD Anderson, and also on more than $5000 in prizes from your favorite crafty companies. So what are you waiting for? Get to stamping!

It's absolutely perfect, Gail. I'm positive the recipient will feel all the love it was made with. Prayers for your mom.

Gail, what a blessing to have such a beautiful person as your Mom - grace and endurance in hardship, what an amazing example...I love the card you created in her honour with the kraft bg and the pretty die-cut poppies. The text panel, the distressing, and the splatters all play together to give a LOVELY vintage look. Thanks so much for making a sample for the challenge.

Lovely and such a touching tribute to your Mom. It's just beautiful with the deep red paired with kraft. We will have your Mom in our thoughts through this month with prayers for better days ahead for her.

Gorgeous card to honor your mother, Gail. She is obviously a very brave woman filled with love for her family, God and others. May God keep her in the palm of His hand.

Gail this is gorgeous!!! The torn papers, the splatters, the distressed sentiment and the vibrant red poppies, combine to make this a stunning card. Your mom is in my thoughts and prayers this evening, I know from what you have mentioned in "chatter" it's a difficult time. ((hugs))
