Whew I finally made it to the Teaparty. This week we are going to Levittown Pennsylvania to send our warmest wishes to Amy and her family. Our very own Irishgreensue (Sue) has shared Amy's story with us and Sheri has given us a fun story so we can send some smiles to Phillie.
I googled Pennsylvania to see if I could come up with some ideas, did you know that The Sundance Kid, Louisa May Alcott (I still can't believe she bumped Beth off in Little Women) and Pink, all come from Pennsylvania. I kept reading and I discovered that Pennsylvania is one of 27 completely landlocked states in the U.S. mainland. Light bulb moment.....indoor beach, and so the card making began.
The rules at The Phillie Flyers Indoor Beach and Recreation Centre are quite strict.....no drinking cocktails in the hot tub. Shirley and Sharon have settled themselves against the back wall for happy hour, whilst Louisa, May, Sunny and Peaches have a laugh in the tub. Grace is dangling here legs in the water as she finishes her martini, made from Bluecoat American Dry Gin.. duh.
When I coloured Grace I used a micron pen to give her hairy legs, unfortunately when I took the first photo it looked like the area surrounding her downstairs lady bits was out of control. I tried 'trimming' the offending area with a white sharpie paint pen.....it looked worse, now it looked like she had grey hair escaping from her swimsuit. I had no choice but to remove Grace from the scene, cut her legs off and pop her in the waves.
The brickwall was made with black acrylic paint and a stencil on a gelli plate - ghost print (secondary print).
I didn't want to be too late getting this card off to Amy so the yellow/orange background is from my dylusions ink stash and the waves were hand cut from an off cut from a previous project. Good thing I never throw scraps out LOL. I added Wink of Stella blue to the waves at the bottom.
Thank you for looking and have a terrific week everyone.
Edit: I just realised I didn't mention the lady sitting behind the hot tub. I think she is Gertie, a descendent of Gertrude Hawk (famous chocolatier from Pennsylvania).

Oh Susie - what a wonderful card - I am still giggling away after reading the story attached to it. Isn't it great what "women of a certain age" can get away with - he he he. giggle, giggle, giggle. I am going to have to look up "gelli plate" - have no idea what that is? Still have lots to learn.

Susie ,I just love this card. I especially love the thought process and that you googled Penna to start the creative process. I just love the Art Impressions girls. They are some of my favorite stamps and the way you used them in this creation is just so awesome. This is a really fun card. You put a smile on my face and I know you will put one on Amy's face also. This is just to darn cute.

Holy Smokes! This is such a hoot! Love it to pieces ...and your story! I have both these stamps but this really ramps up the potential of what can be done with them that's for sure. You are the consummate story teller in words and images. I'm sure this card will be treasured! TFS ...oh, and definitely favourited!

OH MY WORD, Susie - you have me ROFLMBO!!
I may have to throw out the card I did and start over by using your amazing thought processing!! (Certainly better than mine) What a riot, hearing what happened to poor Grace (Have you ever been able to do a card without cutting off limbs of your images?? LOLOL)
All in all, this is a masterful conglomeration of details and storytelling and you have my undying praise and admiration for coming up with this perfect card - I know Amy will be getting a charge out of it, especially if you explain your train of thought (derailed or not!!) I am still laughing at your reference to the out of control lady bits - only you, Susie, only YOU!!
Love the gelli plate back wall of the Indoor Beach, and how you have portrayed the ladies' enjoyment of their beach time. Sure glad you had the waves for Grace to pop into!! Love every detail, and thanks for making this to give Amy a smile!! BIG Hugs!!

A hot-tub beach - that sounds good to me compared with our cold Atlantic Ocean. And, as usual, a brilliant use of the stair-step format, Susie. The brick wall is fantastic.
Are you sure that Grace isn't really Dame Edna Everage - there's a distinct resemblance, and that would certainly account for all the problem with too much hair!
