We hand delivered this birthday card today when we celebrated both my husband's and our son Pat's birthday with lunch and a movie.
This is one of the dreaded masculine cards...that turned out to actually be pretty fun...trying to do something clever with the gears became my number one challenge! This silver cord was stretchy and kept coming unglued and I finally had to resort to my strongest ZOT (cut into a couple of tiny pieces and tucked under and around the cord. Note to self...even if the cord stretches...doesn't mean you have to use it that way! If you look hard you can see the metallic look of the silver paper and gears. This Memory Box die was cut at our die club so I do not have the name. I like the fact that all the negative pieces can be reused. The gears were also cut at die club and I think they are made by Spellbinder.
Thank you for stopping by and taking a peek!

Peggy, you just gave me a chuckle for tonight with the words "dreaded masculine card." Oddly I love doing them. This is fantastic! First you added cord to the gears which is brilliant! As much as I love gears, this never occurred to me. I also love that awesome background die and have never seen it before. Combined with the beautiful, metallic silver paper, this is SO perfect!

I too totally share your feelings about making the "dreaded masculine card", yet it is when I have, that I've been the happiest with what I have in the end created--but what a struggle to the finish!!!
I can only imagine the amazing cards that both your husband and son have received from you, this card really is perfect, love the gears and the diagnal stretchy silver cord--I've fought with this cord myself!

You've succeed, once again, in creating an awesome "dreaded masculine" card. I'm another who dreads masculine cards. I've been looking specifically for masculine dies to purchase and fortunately most of the die makers seem to be marketing more.

Oh, Peggy, I love Nancy's comment about "the dreaded masculine card!" LOL! Yes, why is it we struggle with them? I guess we just love pretty cards, and they are far more fun and give me more enjoyment. However, this is absolutely clever and very striking! I love how you've used the dies and added those wonderful gears! Being of Scottish decent, I so appreciate keeping and using the negatives of dies. And your "fun" with the stretchy cord is entertaining, for sure!! Oh, the fussiness we deal with is making "the" card for someone we so dearly love! I'm sure your son loved the card and -- most of all -- that you made it for him!! Our older grandson has every card I've ever made for him, and I'm sure Pat will keep this one!! Hugs, sweet friend!

Awesome card Peggy.... this background die is perfect for the dreaded masculine cards.... lol It is so easy to change up the color and go masculine with it. Love the added gears... they really step it up and give it that little extra.....Happy Birthday to your DH and son Pat.

I get the same "dreadful" feeling about making guy cards, Peggy....you are not alone! : ) Just by adding the few gears you turned this into a masculine card....the color brown helps too....that is really TERRIFIC!

Dreaded or not, you have mastered it. Using the sliver cord in this way made your card interesting unique, and one of a kind. You've created an outstanding masculine card!

This is wonderful Peggy! Not your usual frilly fare but stunning none the less. I don't mind making 'guy' cards but there are not many guys in our family so the opportunity doesn't come along often! LOL.. lucky me!!!
