The world has been my dad's oyster for sure! He has been blessed to be able to travel all over the world as part of his work. He is a top-notch Dr. and has done research on Diabetes, especially Gestational Diabetes, his entire career. He actually continues to do research and travel to this day!
Anyway, this is my collage/shadow box to honor him on his 80th birthday which we'll celebrate this weekend. I used a fabric base over the shadow box back. A really cool find was the Around The World in 80 Days album that I used as the main image. I diecut "years" to lay over the "days" to make it fit the theme better. I used a sharpie to doodle around these and also to trace both the album letters and mine to make them stand out better. Mom sent me travel photos to use. I also had foreign coins, money, postcards and souvenirs from over the years that I was able to add. I punched a few things-doodling on those as well, and added 3D travel stickers. The photo is taken with the collage laying on the back of the box instead of in the glass in order to try to avoid glare from the flash.
Closeups on my blog post.
