I needed a beachy bon-vogage type card to send to a DF who leaves for a vacation to Maui this week. The CAS282 challenge - A Day at the Beach (7/21/14) - couldn't have been more timely!
As I was whipping this card together (or should I say ripping this card together!), I found myself adding more layers & textures. This made me remember the recent Ways to Use it Challenge - Tantalizing Textures (WT487). The challenge was to use at least 3 textures. Bingo!!! I counted 4 or 5 textures (2 different sandpapers, 3-d stickers, brad, embossed vellum).
The main part of the card took less than 10 minutes to design and complete. That pesky vellum cloud added at least another 30 minutes to figure out how best to attach to card....dang it, vellum always does this to me!
I wanted the cloud to look like it was floating above that beautiful sky. After trying every vellum adhesive I had in my stash - and removing the residue after experimenting - I ended up with a clunky rhinestone brad. Ugh! NOT what I envisioned, but it effectively secured the cloud to card. Of course I had to cover the brad-butt on the inside with another sticker. Oy!
Please, if you have a no-show way to attach vellum, I need your help! I love using vellum, but it doesn't love me back...ha...
Thanks for stopping by to take a peek at my sandpaper beach!

Good news and bad news .... I adore your card AND the destination of the recipient !! but I don't know how to adhere vellum without a brad! I've tried special adhesive papers made just for vellum but it didn't stay stuck! You may get some answers later ...

I love this, especially the 'sandy' beach. When it comes to vellum, we are all challenged. I try to incorporate some embellishment that is part of the design to hide the adhesive underneath. I tend to use a stick on type of pearl or gem over top of the glue dot underneath. Worth the struggle!

DARLING card! love all the texture! i adore vellum and usually end up using it in a way that allows me to wrap it behind card stock and therefore, being able to adhere is to the back where you can't see the adhesive! OR I'll add some type of embellishment or sentiment on top of some of it so that I can adhere it there.
