I finally began my art journal. This wasn't planned. It came about, purely by accident, when I went a little manic with this textured stuff I impulsively bought from the Hobby Lobby clearance bin. It looks like gold sand. It dries fast and doesn't flake off. This sounds like an asset, but really isn't. Those attributes are the LAST thing I need from a crafting item, especially when as much of the stuff ends up on me as on the work. I finger-painted the background and felt compelled to use my metallic embossing paste to do a smattering of circles. They looked like bubbles and, before I knew what was happening, I was putting the beat down on my big shot, using every die I had that remotely looked like an undersea...um...thingie. At any rate, at the end of the day, I was left with a 4x5.25 card that weighed 25 pounds (did I mention that texture stuff dries a little heavy?) and a starfish clinging for its life-or trying to escape-in this madcap undersea creation. So, like any artist who creates something they have NO idea what to do with, I'm putting in my art journal! That I JUST created! How's THAT for creative thinking?

You did FANTASTIC!!! What a fabulous way to start! LOVE your under water scene and all the texture! It really does seem to come to life! The sand may have been difficult to work with, but it looks amazing! Love your little star fish too!

This is awesome...so fun to look at with all the textures and details. Great choice of colors and die cuts. Sometimes when my manic side takes over the card ends up in the trash. Yours turned out gorgeous and is a great startvfor your journal.
