Argh-lost internet just as I was hitting the submit and I lost my whole upload....oh well here we go again! Today's Mixability challenge is to fingerpaint. I thought right away of Lydia's fingerpainted cloud tutorial and thought I'd give it a whirl. I had a framed piece of cut canvas in my stash and decided to make another art piece to sell at the shop where I have my card rack. I rubbed blue Gelato over the top part of the canvas and then used a wet brush to color wash down over the whole piece. I went back with some Distress Ink daubed into the darker area. Once this was dry I daubed white acrylic onto my finger and painted in my clouds. Took the dog for a walk while this dried....if I stay in the house I'm always tempted to start back before everything dries! I then rubbed Gelatos directly to the parts of the stamp I wanted to use and spritzed heavily with water. I stamped onto my canvas (and had enough color left to stamp onto paper too). I went back and added in some detail with markers as I'd spritzed maybe just a tad too heavily. My sentiment is wood mosaic tiles (grabbed a whole bag at the thrift store for less than a dollar-they'll make great Scrabble-look sentiments too) that I daubed with the white paint. I stamped my letters on. My first pink "s" got a lot of extra pink on top from the cheapie stamp so I blended it in with some water and ended up liking the effect so went ahead and let the same thing happen with the other letters. I ended up switching frames as the original was too ornate-love the earthy feel of this one. Now I just have to figure out how to clamp it in as this thrift store frame had now back.
