TodayÂ’s Ways to Use It Challenge is all about birthdays. We are to make a card representing our birth month, the flower, the gemÂ…well, hmmmm. The flower for June is a rose. IÂ’m not really a rose person so I donÂ’t have many rose images. I know I have 3 (4 if you count the one I couldnÂ’t find), but the prettiest one is so small I nearly went blind trying to color it. On to plan B. I remembered I had a set of the month names so I dug it out, stamped it & colored it. I thought it needed something, so I masked it & added the umbrella with a top one cut out & elevated.
I die cut it using my out of the box technique so I wouldnÂ’t cut off the base umbrella. I added a few more die cut layers & also cut the card using the largest labels 28. Since the other birthstone for June (besides the pearl) is the Alexandrite, I added some AB crystals which are pretty close, since they also change colors from pink to purple to green.
Thanks so much for looking! It's just been posted on my blog w/ closeups & the colors of Copics I used: The Write Stuff

Julie this is so pretty! Your popped up umbrella is such a neat feature of this card and I love the crystals mimicking the alexandrite....love the shape and fabulous die cuts, too. Happy B-day to a fellow Gemini

Beautiful! Love your umbrella - amazing 3D affect! The crystals are such a pretty embellishment - great that you were able to catch the multi colors in this photo.

What a beautiful umbrella - it's certainly a summer one, not for wet windy winter days.
I only have a couple of roses too - but NO sweet peas which were one of the flowers for April. Luckily the other flower for April was daisies - I've got oodles of those ;-).
