This card was in the "almost finished but what am I going to do with it" stage when I heard about Kathleen's difficulties, and it practically finished itself. It started out as my project for the MIX61 challenge "Not Monotonous" - to make a project using a single color. You can use shades, tones, and hues of the color. I'm gladly adding it to the gallery for the MMTPT296 challenge to bring cards with encouraging scripture and verse, something to cheer and to uplift, words to inspire and to support one the shining stars of the SCS community, Kathleen Lammie (Kathleen Speegle). I've been a fan of Kathleen's since she left her first comment on one my cards. Her sweet, loving spirit just shines through every word. I hate that she is having to go through this, but SO glad that we can show her so much love by throwing her a tea party!
There's lots to this card - I'll try to keep it S & S. Wrinkle free distress applied to white wc paper using leftover Peacock Feathers and Peeled Pint sitting on my craft mat. Heat embossed tiny butterflies with clear ep. Stamped French Text with Tide pool, added gesso in spots, sanded when dry. Stamped Music with Soft Pool and flowers with Tide Pool. Applied shimmery pastel green spray paint through wood grain stencil. Mixed iridescent medium with distress inks and applied through reverse chicken wire stencil, mixed in more Peacock Feather and applies to upper right corner. Die cut vellum birds and attached with crafter's Pick glue. They were a little bright, washed with Distress Picket Fence paint. It was at this point that I learned about Kathleen, and knew I wanted the "hope" surrounded by the soaring birds, even though I had left a fairly clear area for a sentiment on the right side of the piece. I stamped with VersaMark, applied sticky ep and coated with the gorgeous Silk Glitter when the powder was melted.
Okay, it's maybe not exactly monochromatic and couldn't decide if it wanted to be green or blue, so the piece is popped with foam tape on a teal metallic mat, then mounted on a slightly greener card base made of the same type paper.
Kathleen, you'll see this post before you get the card. I hope it gives you pleasure; it's sent with loads of love and a lot of prayer!
