I'm so happy to have been asked to be a guest designer for the Color Challenges for April! This is one of the cards I created for CC472 to use Night of Navy, Old Olive, and Bermuda Bay, with dessert if you make a birthday card.
I don't have any of the Stampin' Up colors, but I have a computer, and a digital color swatch, so...
I love the Hero Arts Dot Flower background and first tried coloring it using Distress inks and the emboss resist technique, but it was almost impossible to find a starting or ending point for the colors, I finally gave up on that idea. A light bulb came on in my brain , and I stamped the image with black ink and scanned it into my computer. I opened the background image and the color swatch in Photoshop, using the eyedropper tool to choose the colors from the color swatch and drop them into the background image with the paint bucket. It was so much fun to instantly see where the design led, and change things until I was happy with it. I literally played for hours!
After printing several copies of the background, I used one to line the die cut card front and used another to stamp the flower and die cut the "happy".
The flower was stamped in VersaMark and embossed with white ep before fussy cutting. I formed it a bit with a large ball stylus and curled it with my finger for dimension before adhering it to the card front. I die cut the "Birthday", placed the greeting on the card front and rounded the corners. To add some sparkle, I traced the words with Wink of Stella, and used it to paint over all the circles in the flower center and on the patterned paper. I wish it showed in the photo.
I had so much fun making this card! I hope you like it, and as always, thanks for looking!

Beautiful work, Jody. I am so impressed with the colors you have achieved with the Photoshop. I could never do that - the computer is just not my thing. Love the blossom and the happy cut from the same! So nice and glad you are with us for April.
