The Ways to Use It Challenge, WT472 (3/27/14), had a theme of March Madness, with the added instruction to "make it tall". Instead of making a tall card, I flipped the sketch and made it long.
I was inspired to make this card by a stamped scrap that was left over from a practice session earlier in the week. My husband & I made 35 award certificates for a Black Powder Shoot that he is putting on at the local range this weekend. The buffalo scene you see here appeared on the special Grazing Buffalo award. (It looked SO cool. What was really fun is that I had a grazing buffalo stamp in my stash! ha...)
It's kind of hard to see on the photo, but there is a subtle splatter of ink on the buffalo panel and on the cloud. I was inspired by a card that Heather Telford at Bits & Pieces had on her blog today. She did her splattering by flicking color from watercolor pencils with a water brush. I had to resort to a drop of reinker in water flicked off the end of a stencil brush. It was fun to do, though I will definitely try Heather's technique when I have a bit of time to play.
Another fun thing I learned making this card is that Glossy Accents works like a charm to adhere burlap to a card. It was super easy to squiggle some lines of GA on the card base and position the burlap on top. There was time to move the fibers and get things lined up before the GA dried. I also used GA to adhere the image panel to the burlap & the burlap knot under the sentiment panel. Easy peasey - no fighting glue dots or double sided tape that tends to lift off the burlap. Glossy Accents rocks!!
Thanks for stopping by to look at my buffalos roaming. May you enjoy blue skies & sunshine!

The buffalo roaming scene was a perfect fit for this long card...gives the feeling of the expanse of the Great Plains. The burlap under layer adds to the rustic feeling. FAB card.

What an amazing scene! I love that image! As others have said the burlap framing is superb. I have a burlap bag currently holding rice that I will kept for future consideration for projects like this. ...and now I know a super way to adhere it too! Thank you for the tip and the beautiful scene!
