Tickle time again and what a fun tickle challenge we have! Mary (redi2stamp) our tickle hostess this month, wrote a wonderful poem for us. Thank you Mary, I love your poem!
Our cards are to feature the flower for our birth month and an optional associated fairy and Sabrina (cook22) gave us a link to look up the flowers.
You should know that I LOVE flowers. I have them in my garden, some select silk ones in my home because dumb kitty eats the real ones and more flower stamps then any one person should own. I clicked the link Sabrina provided and scrolled down to my birth month of October and saw the word MARIGOLD. Really?? ThatÂ’s my birth flower? Of all the flowers out there I would honestly have to say that Marigolds just happen to be one of my least favorite flowers. Yes, itÂ’s colorful flower, hardy and resistant BUT, itÂ’s top heavy, has so many petals crammed into its blossom that it almost doesnÂ’t look like a blossom and I have always thought it has an odor rather than a fragrance. And, I DONÂ’T HAVE A MARIGOLD STAMP!! UghÂ…
Well, if you’re a New Englander, as I am, there is one little reference book published yearly that is chock full of all sorts of wonderful information and definitely a "go to" guide. I decided to confer with it before accepting that the Marigold is my birth month flower. Here’s what my beloved “Old Farmer’s Almanac” had to say; October's birth flower is the marigold. Marigolds are often given as a sign of warm or fierce, undying love, or as a way of saying that you're content with being with the recipient. The other October flower is Cosmo, a symbol of order, peace, and serenity.
Needless to sayÂ…here is my bouquet of Cosmos! Oh, my Blackberry Fairy is very shy and she is hiding behind the Cosmos!! TFL

LOVE your bouquet of cosmos. Super soft and pretty. Cosmos and marigolds are my go to flowers for growing. They never fail me except for the time the snails ate my marigolds which were suppose to deter them with their odor. hehe Anyway, love your card and hiding fairy. Oh, and that stitching is fab-O! TFS :0)

Very pretty and very innovative of you to find a cosmos for your month instead of the much disliked marigold. Mind you marigolds are a real help in the veggie garden!

Your card is beautiful, gorgeous colouring and I love the stitched border. It's funny how different we all are, I love marigolds because they are very hard to kill LOL.

Your bunch of cosmos looks absolutely beautiful and I LOVE the stitching around the card, too!! I'm with you on marigolds, mainly because of their smell!!

Marigolds were never my favourite flower either until I found a variety that is about 3 feet tall and a soft lemon yellow. Planted beside white roses and these purple spiky flowers they look gorgeous. I agree with everyone else, your faux stitching is amazing.

Hey I am so with you n the marigolds...one fellow t-potter did a beautiful card with them and I dont mind them but said I wish they were in pinks or blues too. And I agree with the odor it is stinky....being my birthmonth too I did not know cosmos were one...I like the meaning of them. Our other is llimonium or I heard another name is sea lavender, but not really lavender at all. but happy birthday early to a fellow octoberan...he-he...beatuiful soft job with the cosmos...TFS..:0)

Lovely cluster of cosmos - they are a favorite of mine (and I agree with your comment about marigolds - phew!). This is such a happy card, and you are so clever to hide your fairy behind the blooms, after all what fairy worth her salt allows the casual observer to catch a glimpse? Fairy sightings are rare and special and you are wise to keep us guessing! TFS!
