DS #2 turns 30 tomorrow and I wanted to make him a special card to celebrate - and used lots of challenges to help! Finished and mailed this off last week but never got it uploaded...
The BG was made by scribbling Gelatos randomly on Neenah CS, then sponging gesso in circles to blend. Intended to spray just a touch of gold but my spritz became a major spray. Covered some of it with more of the Gelato/gesso treatment resulting in a pattern that resembled an Aurora Borealis. Flecked some diluted acrylic paint over all. Stamped the Flourishes image in Tuxedo Black and colored with high number Copics to appear more night-lit.
Ran a wood veneer panel through the TH EF that had been inked with Rich Cocoa to make the card fit Ally's wonderful sketch. Using Joanne's wonderful tutorial (at Sabrina's suggestion!) I fashioned a textured chipboard button and added the metallic pearl-ex colors. Spray-painted a Christmas hook and added feathers to mimic a fishing fly - DS is a Fish Biologist. PT - 1 The Flourishes challenge an always be found on the blog: www.flourishes.org
Thank you Sabrina, Ally, Joanne, Katie and Dina for your amazing inspiration. Thank you all for looking and have a peaceful day.

This is amazing, Marie - I hope he loved it and appreciated all the work you put into it. Thanks for describing about the gesso and gelatos, I must give that a tree. And gosh - I wouldn't even have dreamt of trying to emboss wood veneer, I'd be afraid of it cracking. But obviously it can be done - to great effect! The button and fly detail is a super finishing touch.
