Here is a sample page of my huge stamp catalog. Every image I own is stamped into this catalog, which I've broken out into broad categories and then sub categories. The colored tabs are a post-it product, and each color is one of my broad categories.
This page is under the main category "Holidays" - orange tabs, sub category "Halloween".
I write the company name under the image, and if it's a company with multiple stamp types (clear, cling or wood), I'll make a note about the type.
This helps me easily find the stamp I need, and also helps me put together images from different companies.

I do the same thing. This saves so much time and allows me to coordinate a project before getting anything out. I make a pull list for materials. in the back of my book I also keep punch swatch pages too.
I do something similar, but I put a color dot on each page and assign a code. Then I put the same color dot and code on the box that holds the stamp. This allows me to select a stamp I want to use, and go directly to that shelve and pull out the holder that contains that stamp. My categories are broken down a little more and I have a section just for words, which is further broken down by Birthday, Sympathy, Religious, etc. I also have a check out sheet for when I borrow stamps to friends so I can keep better track of my inventory. I keep a separate notebook for holiday stamps and rollers. Although I don't use rollers much anymore and probably should get up the courage to part with them.
