The new [Uniko Studio Challenge] No. 7 - Distressed or Vintage http://unikostudio.blogspot.co.uk/20...istressed.html is a challenge to me in all senses of the word! Both vintage and distressed are not my style, so first I thought IÂ’d skip this one, then I found myself intrigued with the idea of trying something different.
The colour palette and inspiration picture really appealed and with MotherÂ’s Day coming up I found myself warming to the idea of a vintage MotherÂ’s Day card for my Mum!
The background was easier than I thought to create – I simply rubbed my SU Stamping Spots (so sad they’ve been discontinued) over the paper and “polished” it to get a smooth finish. For the newer colours, I used a small acrylic block like a stamp and then rubbed on the paper in circles to achieve the same effect.
After endless “vintage” searches on Pinterest I noted that many vintage cards use paper doilies- not something you find in my stash - so I made one! I stamped the largest stamp in a beautiful Uniko set called Decorative Doilies onto vellum, heat embossed it in white & fussy cut it. I then added some ribbon and the Gerbera to finish it off.
