January has 5 Thursdays this year, so I get to hostess one more challenge over at the CCEE Stampers, and this time I went with my local weather: U is for Umbrellas
Here in Ireland it rains at this time of year. A lot. Umbrellas are very important. I've had mine out this week more than once! Bonus points if you also bring good raingear along , but sunshades and beach umbrellas are also perfectly suitable for the challenge. If you want to join us sheltering under the rain or lying out on beach protecting yourself from the sun, use the keyword if you upload to the gallery here, or use the InLinkz tool on the blog .
I have so many umbrella stamps, not to mention a die as well, that it was very hard to make a choice which one to use - but in the end i went with this sweet chick.
K&Co Blossomwood Mat Pad.
Blue cut with MFT Jumbo Ric-Rac, edges sponged with harbour.
Base layer stitched, edges inked with browns and Harbor.
MFT sentiment from Rainfall Flopsey.
Spellbinders Blossoms 2, bottom layer embossed with Textile.
DeNami Chick with Umbrella stamped on watercolour paper, embossed and coloured with distress inks - Mustard Seed, Barn Door, Fired Brick, Broken China, Faded Jeans, Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo
White gel pen on umbrella and DP.

Clever layering, wonderful colors and the sponging and stitching around the edges were an inspired touch. Certain details just "make" a card, and your edge treatment really does that here!

It looks like your little ducky is protected from the rain inside his flower.........but the waves seem to be upon him!!! Very cute with the teeny image, and I love the stitching!!
