This is my card for two challenges: CAS256 "Scallops" and MIX51 "SpEeD bUmPs" - to create speed bumps on your project and camouflage them.
- Use liquid glue with bumpy things (micro beads, chunky glitter, OR sand).
- Use liquid products that dry with a body (Crystal Effects, Goose Bumps, Puffy Paint, gel medium, etc.)
- Cover it with paint or ink refills and a brush.
Several months ago I embossed a sheet of craft foam with the Bit of Paisley ef and used it as a faux Gelli plate. A resulting print was the base for my speed bumps.
I used puff paint to loosely trace the design and used my heat tool to puff it. The piece was originally shades of pale greens and purples achieved by applying paints and stains. I rubbed the bumps with Scarlet Lava Inka Gold. Looked like **** so I grabbed a baby wipe and started trying to wipe it off. The paint beneath wasn't quite dry and was stained with the red, so I changed horses and started pouring on Glimmer Mists and Perfect Pearls mists (reds, oranges, and turquoise), holding the paper and turning it to let it run and pool. Still didn't like it so I painted back over it with a wash of pale pink.
Then I decided what I didn't like was the uneven dimension, so I ran the piece through the ef again to try to level it out. Applied Rub 'n Buff on the puffy areas and gave up. I actually hated it but decided I had to do SOMETHING with it, so I die cut the hearts. And I LOVE them! I think they are just so cool- and on the plus side I dragged a piece of watercolor paper through the mist run-off and got a really cool bg piece for future use!
The front of the card base is also embossed with the paisley ef, and the large hearts are adhered with foam tape for dimension.
As always, thanks for looking!

Those are some fabulous hearts on your card! Your process made me giggle with delight. Creativity can be so cruel during the process, but when we finally finish and love it... well that's worth it all.
I absolutely love your idea to run the paper through the embossing machine to flatten it out. It's a stunning piece of paper. I'm so glad you stuck with it and added it to the Mix-ability Challenge gallery.

This is so so cool. I love the hearts. What a technique, don't think I'd be brave enough to try that!
