Mini shrine created for the Day Of The Dead Swap over at Retro Café. The shrine comes as a kit and easily comes together with a little glue. The inside dimensions are 1 3/4" wide, 2 1/2" tall, and 7/8" deep. Crackling medium was used on the outside. Painted and heavy layers of stickles were added for maximum sparkle. The fun part is adding all the embellishments.
I chose to honor Frida Kahlo with this stamp that I purchased at Viva Las Vegas Stamps. Frida was stamped and colored with Prismacolor Pencils. 3D flowers were added to highlight her headdress. I also changed her right earring to the hand that she was so fond of wearing. The hand earring sways back and forth to add interest.
The crackle texture (purchased from Retro Café Art) on the outside was so much fun. The crackling medium produced deep cracks very similar to a reptilian look. I really like how it turned out. I added ball chain to the edges for even more texture.
I hope you enjoyed my little tribute to Frida.
Thanks for looking.
