Lydia (Understandblue) asked us to make a black and white card with a pop of color, choosing from "Breaking Bad" team colors. I chose blue/Skyler.
This card was a long time in the making because I wanted to do a specific technique but felt pressured because I didn't have a big enough time slot to "play" at the technique before attempting a card. So, I decided to set that aside for another time. My second thought was to use some black and white dsp and just color in a small area. This just didn't feel challenging enough for me, so I set that aside too. Third thought: I remembered that I was watching for a challenge in which I could use this suburban skyline die that I got at a show this summer.
It is a 12" strip, which I cut down to two shorter strips, dabbed some white on the rooftops, and overlapped the two pieces. I colored in some windows with white gel pen. I sponged several shades of blue on the white panel for the sky, attached my rooftops, Matted the little scene on black and attached to my white card base.
It really was easy, although I was a little worried how the rooftop sponging would turn out and also whether I would be able to draw in the windows without messing things up. I'm pleased with both results.
The sentiment makes me feel like all the people in these houses have their lights on in the evening and are praying for a cancer patient.
