Today's Inspiration Challenge took us to this very cool cake site called Charm City Cakes. I've always wanted to do one of those wedding cake cards that I see in the gallery and I was struck by this unique copper cake (second row, 4th over):
It took me a while to figure out how to do what I had in mind. I built the cake layers and tried a number of different things to create the wavy fabric look on the bottom layer. I ended up spritzing some white cardstock and then folding and bunching it. After I adhered it in place, I painted it with white shimmer paint and added some glitter to edges. Flowers were punched and shaped and shimmered and glittered, as were the hearts. I took the angle on my white layer from the top layer of the cake and did use traditional hearts and flowers as decorative elements on my cake.
