This is my card for the HYCCT1326 challenge Mix it up - to create a card using mixed media, and also for the MIX39 challenge to use watercolor.
I started with a perfectly nice mixed media paper that I created with gesso and several shades of pink acrylic paint. I stamped and heat embossed the image and sentiment with black ep, then watercolored the image using deep rose, gold, copper and brass. I decided it needed something more, so I masked the image, applied a bg stamp in VersaMark and started adding Perfect Pearls in the same colors as the paint. AAACK!!! It was horrible so I started trying to rub it off and ended up smearing the VersaMark and Pearls into a total mess. I grabbed the alcohol ink blending solution and a paper towel and was able to cut it back to a reasonable level. But it still needed something... I stamped the flourish with VersaMark and applied clear ep, but the Perfect Pearl residue yielded a slightly different result. And just for good measure, I stamped the SU Swallowtail in VersaMark and clear embossed it. It's very subtle and most people would probably never see it...
I won't bore you with details on finishing this project, it's easy enough to see. But after all that, I really kind of like it!
As always, thanks for looking!

If only I had your creativity to turn a mess into a masterpiece! I love this and that background is awesome! Love the coloring on the image too! Another amazing card with a wonderful adventure behind it. Thanks for the tip on the blending solution. Mine has been sitting in a drawer for years.

Now, how do only "kinda like" this? It's GORGEOUS!! Mixed media at its finest, my dear. The background is fabby and the colors are so lovely. Stunning final result. I'm so glad you didn't give up on this card. And even happier you played along with my challenge. :)

It's beautiful, and if you hadn't told us about your misadventures, I would have thought this came out even better than your original intentions. That's what I love about mixed media... it can go from great to a total mess, then back to great again.
