When I saw today's sketch, I thought of a tri panel Chicago Skyline scene that I'd seen. I had "Blue Christmas" on my mind since the Elvis challenge and decided to try a mixed media Chicago Christmas scene. It didn't turn out quite as I'd imagined as the skyline stamp was much smaller scale than I'd remembered, but I made do by using a tree for my center panel. I started by using cotton balls to smear white & grey Gesso over a large book page. While it was still wet I put some blue acrylic paint on another cotton ball and smeared it on as well. I stamped some snowflakes with craft ink, but they were too distinct so I smeared more Gesso over them. After this was dry I stamped my city scape over it and tore my vertical panels. I used a piece of Washi tape with my horizontal panel. For the main image I stamped my tree in pacific point with a bit of Island Indigo rock n rolled on. I added glitter pen highlights to this and the city sky. My sentiment is what really stumped me as I couldn't get it to fit as the oval in the sketch without losing too much of the city and it didn't fit below the tree either. I also wanted to add flowers for Lydia's HYCCT challenge so I ended up with a silver flourish and rolled roses for the accent part of the sketch.
