When I saw today's Ways to Use It challenge was to use chipboard, I thought of this cool art piece I'd seen using metal type on different colors of wood. I thought I could do a faux wood with faux metal using chipboard. I had some scrap chipboard and cut two layers for each letter and a single piece for the "wood." I layered them with matte Gesso then used direct to paper swipes of Soft Suede and Bermuda Bay. I added some grain lines with a marker then used a brown paint dauber for more brown color. I pressed my letters into my Versamark pad then used a mix of ep (copper, gold, silver, and black) that I emboss for an aged metal look. I inked the edges with black marker and also traced around them a bit for more depth. I had also seen this cool rug and thought I could get a similar look by stamping in Craft ink on burlap. I tilted this panel over a piece of Kraft that I wheeled with the Timber wheel and Soft Suede ink.

Wow, Gail - wonderful work and into my favourites! I have to go into town next week to buy some polycotton fabric and I already had in mind to see if I could get some hessian or burlap while I'm on a rare shopping trip.
I just love your faux letter tiles, and the happy upbeat nature of the card. Let it speak to you!!
