This is for the MIX33 challenge, to use a glazing medium.
The basis for this card is a piece I created for the MIX4 challenge that I have never truly been happy with. You can see the original piece and read how I created it here: Scripted Butterflies by jodylb at Splitcoaststampers
After reading Lydia's explanation about glazing techniques, I decided to see what I could do with this. I applied Mod Podge with a paint brush to the bloom and butterflies; it brightened them a bit but not enough. So I decided to try painting them with the Silks Shimmer acrylic glazes and liked the results fairly well - except for the blotchy butterflies. Nothing to do but re-create them.
I sponged two spots of Distress Ink onto cream cs, one Wild Honey and one Milled Lavender, and stamped the butterflies onto their respective colors with VersaFine Onyx Black. They were heat embossed with clear ep and the images colored with Inktense pencils. I applied the Silks glazes and fussy cut them when dry. I formed the wings with my fingertips and attached them to the card with Scor-Tape. I am really pleased with the final result.
As always, thanks for looking!

Wow - this is gorgeous - I like Marie's description of vivid - perfect! The butterflies are the perfect saturation of color against the background. And way to recycle challenge pieces - I love it when that happens!!

Beautiful card, Jody Lynn! The butterflies look so real. I love what you did with the bg panel. The black flourish frame against the soft bg is very striking.
