This is for Color Challenge 433 - Red, White and Blue. And darned if this card isn't red, white and blue! With a perfectly legit Antique Linen base (plus gold, but I consider silver and gold accents, which don't count, right?).
I don't know how this miracle of total color compliance occurred, really. When I looked up the combo this morning I almost decided to give this challenge a pass because while I am as patriotic as the next gal, I don't do well with this color scheme, artistically speaking. But Distress Ink to the rescue. I did my BG using Barn Door and Stormy Sky, and stamped over it with Midnight Muse using my Cover-A-Card stamp in Swirls and Stars. The gold metallic cardstock was embossed using the Darice Music folder and the bird image (from Studio G) was embossed in black on white and mounted on some red textured Core-dinations CS. The print strip was a scrap.
Dessert was to do a patriotic theme. Well, maybe my bird is singing the Star Spangled Banner. Or not.
Thanks for looking, and Happy Fourth of July to all!

This is so amazing - it is just gorgeous!!! I love all those bold colors in the bg next to the black and white bird. So pretty!

WOW..what a great card you made and not at all what you'd think of when you hear red, white, and blue! That bg is fab..the distress inks really make an interesting mix of deep and light tones and you added the gold embossed layer, one might think an unexpected piece but totally in sync with your bird (btw-I have that bird stamp..very versatile).

Yes, Polly, I have that bird stamp because you have it. I saw it on your awesome white on white card a while back, and hunted it down. I am shameless that way.
