I've been away from stamping for a few days as we traveled to a wedding and are now in the throes of getting ready for VBS. I took some time today to catch up on a couple of challenges. I had a blast strolling through Queen Lori's gallery. I chose this pretty pink floral card as I thought it would be a great chance for me to try out this week's Mixability challenge called Brilliant Pastels. Ky made a wonderful tutorial for this technique if you want to check it out. I'll be putting photos of my step by step process on my blog a little later. I started with Melon Mambo and Gumball Green inks smeared onto a piece of acetate. I spritzed with water then laid my Natural White paper into this and dried it with my heat gun. I then stamped my floral image and flourishes in the same ink colors. Now is where the muting comes in. I used a credit card to swipe matte white Gesso over the top of this. I smeared it around quite a bit which caused some of the pink to blend into the Gesso. After this dried, I stamped the Canvas bg in Sahara Sand to give a fabric feel to the piece. I also sponged some Sahara along the sides. In order to make sure my words would show up well, I daubed some white acrylic ink over the area where I wanted to stamp my verse. I stamped in Garden Green which is what the muted color ended up looking like. I framed with Garden Green that I distressed. I crumpled some Rose Red seam binding and also added some vanilla eyelet behind this to mimic the border strip of Lori's original card. I ended up flipping the sketch to fit the look of the image.

This is such a WONDERFUL card! I love the canvas feel you gave using the Sahara sand. You're a smart cookie for adding white acrylic paint to help show off the verse. Thank you so much for playing my challenge!
